Business Advocacy

The mission of the Berkeley Chamber is to continually strive to improve the economic climate for the benefit of every business and citizen and to safeguard our system of free, competitive enterprise.

The Berkeley Chamber’s Business Advocacy program keeps members up to date with the latest developments in legislation affecting the local business community and educate business leaders about public policy issues relevant to their business.  Business leaders take comfort knowing they will be informed of any proposed changes in law that could impact their businesses at the local, state, and federal level.

Registering to vote and going to the polls are simple ways to affect the political process. More importantly, making sure your friends, family, and employees are registered to vote can impact an election. In order for our voices to be heard and to have a say in who represents us, we must register to vote and cast our ballot for elections. Elections are often won by just a few hundred votes. It is important to remember that the individuals we elect or re-elect have the ability to shape the policies that directly impact our industry, organization, and communities. We cannot take our decision for granted.

The Berkeley Chamber of Commerce is proud to collaborate with the League of Women Voters (LWV) of the Charleston Area to increase voter participation and political responsibility, through the ability to have easy access to data on candidates and voter information. Through the LWV the Chamber offers online voter registration, candidate forums, and programs that promote education and awareness relating to critical good government issues affecting our democracy.
