(Berkeley County, SC) – The Berkeley Chamber of Commerce announced today that Greg Davis of Moncks Corner is the $1000.00 cash winner in the Berkeley Chamber of Commerce Buy Local contest. Berkeley Chamber of Commerce President Bill McCall drew Davis’ name from 1149 entries representing $370,958.10 in local sales receipts. Back in October, the Berkeley Chamber of Commerce initiated a program to promote “buying local” to give the local economy a “boost”. People were encouraged to think locally when shopping, and given an incentive to do so.
“The primary goal of this initiative was to inspire consumers to consider buying locally when making any purchase,” says Berkeley Chamber President Bill McCall, “the response has been incredible and we are encouraged to see more and more consumers thinking locally with their buying habits.”
The Berkeley Chamber of Commerce wishes to thank everyone who participated. The Chamber received entries from residents in Berkeley, Charleston, Dorchester, Williamsburg and Orangeburg counties. Additional initiatives and contests are anticipated for 2012.
