The Town of Moncks Corner approved a $1.8 million general obligation bond that includes funding for a new fire station in the Foxbank community, a station that has been in the planning stages since 2008 when Mayor Bill Peagler first announced a plan to increase the town’s tax base through annexation.

The second reading, during the town’s regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, also includes projects such as continued work on the new regional recreation complex, debt repayment and additional paved parking lots around the downtown area.

Funds are expected to be available on Dec. 16.
