(Charleston, S.C.)—12/12/17— South Carolina Federal Credit Union is making it easier for Clemson fans to make their mark on New Orleans during the 2018 Sugar Bowl. All credit union financial centers will be offering $2 bills, stamped with the licensed Clemson tiger paw. The bills will be available beginning Dec. 15th at all South Carolina Federal financial centers while supplies last.
The limited service is a nod to a tradition dating back to 1977, when Georgia Tech decided to stop playing football against Clemson. In a show of protest, students and alumni stamped $2 bills with the famed paw print and used them as evidence of the economic impact Clemson fans make at athletic events. The tradition is in full effect when attending away games, even 40 years later.
“We are proud to be a part of this state and its strong sporting traditions,” said Scott Woods, President & CEO of South Carolina Federal. “This effort and our larger More Time Cheering Bowl Game Giveaway for University of South Carolina and Clemson University speak to our passion of giving back to our members and allowing them to spend more time doing what they love.”
The bills are available to members and non-members and must be retrieved inside financial center locations, not via drive through.
