South Carolina Federal Credit Union Receives Regulatory Approval to Expand(N. CHARLESTON, S.C.) – 9/15/2016 – South Carolina Federal Credit Union, the Lowcountry’s oldest and largest locally owned financial institution, is pleased to announce expansion plans for 2016 and beyond.

SC Works Trident On the Job Training (OJT) ProgramOften when looking for the perfect employee you will find someone who could be right but is missing the proper training or skills needed. We can help you!

Among our many services that we offer employers we have a program called On-the-Job Training (OJT). This program is designed specifically to help save you the time, energy and money it takes to train a new employee. We not only help you screen potential employees for the right fit but we offer to train them while reimbursing up to 90% of the trainee’s wages during the period of time needed to complete their training.

The OJT program is funded through the Workforce Investment Act (WIA), which is a federally funded program to help create a skilled and educated workforce while helping to increase employment opportunities within the region.

SC Works Trident offers a variety of other services for employers. Some of our other services include:

  • Labor Market Information – Information on prevailing wages, in-demand occupations, employment and income statistics, new workforce developments and so much more.
  • Recruiting and Staff Services – We can help with advertising job openings, the application process, schedule recruitment interviews as well as career fairs and can help facilitate pre-hire testing sessions throughout the tri-county region or at your offices.
  • WorkKeys Testing – This is a job skills assessment system which measures real world skills and abilities that are critical to job success.

Some certifications our WIA participants can obtain include:

  • SC Manufacturing Certification
  • Machinist Apprenticeship
  • Heating, Ventilating, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) Certification
  • Truck Driver – CDL
  • GED Training or High School Diploma
  • Medical Office Specialist Certification
  • Nurse Aide (CNA)
  • 280 Hour Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW

Administrative Professionals Day ConferenceProgram Announced For 2015 Administrative Professionals Day Conference At Trident Technical College

Feb. 23, 2015…Trident Technical College Division of Continuing Education and Economic Development is pleased to announce the program lineup for the 21st Annual Administrative Professionals Day Conference. The 2015 conference is scheduled for Tuesday, April 14, 2015 from 8:15 a.m. to 4 p.m. in The College Center on the Main Campus of Trident Technical College in North Charleston. Registration fees range from $109-$149 per person.

This one-day event features guest speakers from the community and faculty from Trident Technical College in addition to a fashion show courtesy of Sissy’s Closet and a gourmet lunch catered by Duvall Catering and Event Design. D’Jaris Whipper-Lewis will deliver the National Anthem as part of the opening of the conference. A continental breakfast is also provided.

North Charleston, SC – Palmetto Goodwill has been selected by The Pantry to conduct hiring
events for management and staff positions at their Church’s Chicken, Subway, Aunt M’s
Chicken Deli and Arby’s restaurants throughout the Lowcountry. All hiring events will start at 10:00 a.m. and be held as follows:

  • Tuesday, December 2nd- Church’s Chicken-Berkeley Prosperity Center 325 Main

training seminar with coaching and interview preparation for interested candidates.

Each event is limited to 75 applicants.

Goodwill Industries of Lower South Carolina is a not-for-profit social service organization whose mission
is to help people achieve their full potential through the dignity and power of work. Over 90 percent of

career counseling, job training, and other employment related programs to people with barriers to

Small Business SaturdayBerkeley Chamber of Commerce is continuing its promotion for the “Buy Local” initiative to help generate more revenue for local businesses. Saturday, November 29th is Small Business Saturday. The ultimate goal is to emphasize the importance of buying local and the positive economic impact it has on both residents and businesses. For the week of November 24th-November 29th, the Chamber will promote discounts of our members on a daily basis. We will also be promoting additional specific deals for each day of the week in honor of the campaign. The Chamber hopes it will become second nature for everyone to “think locally” when considering a new purchase. We are encouraging all shoppers and local businesses to Shop Small and Buy Local.
