Queen Anne’s Revenge is a modern restaurant with a relaxed atmosphere, and locally-driven cuisine at conscientious prices. The first full-service restaurant on South Carolina’s Daniel Island, it serves up premium steak and seafood and also features a collection of historic museum quality pirate artifacts.   Both the menu and décor received a significant overhaul in 2011, yet the restaurant remains a value oriented, family-friendly concept–perfect whether you’re looking for small bites at happy hour or the best dinner value on Daniel Island. Queen Anne’s Revenge also furthers Neighborhood Dining Group’s commitment to protecting and sustaining our planet through sourcing local ingredients, conserving water and energy, and running a more sustainable restaurant overall – from recycling programs to using energy-efficient appliances.

Under the leadership of Executive Chef Brent Quiggle, the menu received a significant makeover in 2011, but the classic dishes remain and the some new twists on old favorites were added.

For lunch, enjoy a Seafood Caesar Salad, Double Cheese Burger, Charleston Shrimp and Grits, Fish and Chips, and others. Brunch, served every Sunday from 11 a.m.-2 p.m., offers favorites such as Fried Green Tomato Benedict, Vegetable and Benton’s Ham & Cheese Omelettes, Crème Brûlée French Toast, a Chef’s Daily Quiche, and Southern-Style Chicken and Biscuits, with a children’s brunch menu also available.

Highlights from dinner menu include appetizers such as Charleston She-Crab Soup with lump Crabmeat and a hint of Sherry; Crispy Fried Calamari with fresh Tomato Sauce and Lemon & Roasted Garlic Aioli. Dinner entrées include Slow-Roasted Prime Rib, Steak Tips au Poivre, Fresh Catch of the Day prepared several different ways, Pecan Crusted Chicken, Pasta Carbonara, and the Mixed Seafood Platter-a combination of Local Fish, Shrimp, Scallops, and various sides.

As the season and produce availabilities change, Chef Quiggle will alter the menus – including the dinner, brunch, children’s, and dessert menus.  The kitchen uses as much local product from the fertile Charleston region as possible.

The IGA Store has been a staple of the St. Stephen landscape for over 50 years. Since Eddie Brown bought the store in 1981, it has doubled in size and added a Deli/Cafe and a Gas sale center. Store employees are not only friendly and helpful, but loyal to the IGA Brand. Many have worked with Mr. Brown for nearly 30 years. He has also employed many of the 2nd generation of local families.

Eddie and his wife Christine hold a firm belief in the “Hometown Pride” IGA Stores are known for. They are very active in the community and support the local schools, athletic teams, youth organizations and churches. IGA St. Stephen is the “place to be” to run into friends and neighbors, especially during holiday times as many past residents come “home” for visits.

IGA’s superior meats, fresh produce, and down home cooking in the café keep customers coming from many miles away to shop with us. Personal service keeps loyal customers.

Member Spotlight – Central True Value

Posted by Berkeley Chamber of Commerce on July 15, 2011 in Member Spotlight , News

In January, 1976 Elwood and Joan Housand purchased Central Hardware and Supply Company, a popular full-line hardware store that had operated in Moncks Corner since 1950. After having spent 30 years in the wholesale hardware business, Elwood’s first retail decision was to associate with True Value, enabling Central to combine its buying power with thousands of other True Value stores. By so doing, Central was then, and is now, able to offer its customers a wide variety of merchandise at highly competitive prices.

Central True Value’s business values were established early on: focus on customers as individuals and continuously improve the facility and operations.Twenty-five years and three expansions later, including the addition of lumber and building materials, Central True Value relocated to its current site, opening in the spring of 2001.The Housands’ daughter, Lynn, and sons Greg and Kevin are involved with daily operations and work with a first-class staff of over 50 individuals who live in local communities and who represent over 200 years of Central True Value employment and hardware, building materials, and customer service experience.

During the first quarter of 2011 Central completed a total interior remodel project, updating the store to True Value’s “Destination True Value” sales floor layout, interior décor, and merchandise selection concepts.True Value offers the core departments of plumbing, electrical, hardware, automotive, housewares, lawn and garden, and paint. They specialize in sporting goods, a full-service garden center, drive-through lumberyard, rental equipment, and seasonal goods. And, please be assured that while much at Central True Value is new…their goal today is the same as it has always been…to remain a viable Berkeley County business whose success is founded in its responsiveness to you, the customers…and by adding truevalue to your shopping experience.

Stop by Monday-Saturday from 7am-7pm, Sunday 1pm-5pm, or call at 761-8588.
