Member Spotlight: AgSouth Farm CreditWho We Are:

AgSouth Farm Credit is a member-owned lending cooperative and a member of the Farm Credit System, which was created in 1916 to provide farmers with a lender prepared to meet their special financial needs.

What We Do:

AgSouth Farm Credit provides loans for real estate, agriculture and rural homes and leasing for automobiles, equipment, buildings and commercial operations. The association also offers crop and livestock protection services.

Additionally, AgSouth makes secondary home loans through a division of the company – AgSouth Mortgages – which provides loans for home purchases and refinances for those who do not qualify under established Farm Credit guidelines.

Michelle Sharp, a mortgage originator in AgSouth’s Summerville office, serves the mortgage needs of those in Berkeley, Charleston and Dorchester Counties. “Although we specialize in providing home loans for large acreages, we can finance homes in developments and in town, second homes and even investment properties,” she says. “AgSouth Mortgages provides loans for purchases and refinances at competitive rates, and through our various programs we are able to offer a loan tailor-made to meet our clients’ financial needs.”

The Cooperative Way

AgSouth Farm Credit is a member-owned cooperative, sharing its profits with its members through AgSouth’s patronage program. Since 1991 AgSouth has distributed more than $352 million to its members.

The association, an equal housing lender, has more than 7,240 members and is headquartered in Statesboro, Ga., with administrative offices in Spartanburg, S.C., and Orangeburg, S.C. The cooperative’s 26 branches serve 59 Georgia and 34 South Carolina counties. For more information, visit
